Food deserts are defined by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) as urban neighborhoods and rural towns without ready access to fresh, healthy, and affordable food. Typically, these areas are low-income, where the population lacks economic resources to travel for food purchases.*
At Harvest Resources, we seek to help provide access to healthy food for county residents. This lack of access to healthy food causes many issues. According to America’s Health Rankings (2021), food insecurity impacts health due to the mental and physical stress that it places on the body.*
While we already provided food to 8,930 residents this year alone, we still have a lot to accomplish.
We need your support to provide meals, food, and connection to resources for individuals and families in need in Anne Arundel County.
